Farmers are protesting in Cyprus

Cyprus cannot ignore the directives developed within the framework of the European Union’s agricultural policy. However, the republic is able to provide support to farmers. This viewpoint was expressed by Christos Papapetrou, the head of the Pancyprian Farmers Union (PFU).

On the 3rd of February, farmers in Paphos organized a tractor demonstration to show solidarity with mainland European farmers. They believe that food producers are struggling to make ends meet, attributing this to Brussels’ policies. They are advocating for an augmentation in subsidies and revisions to EU directives to address these challenges.
